Despite all the atrocities happening in the country (that coral reef destroyed, plunder raps, Ampatuan case lagging, etc.), there will always be one thing that will always, always makes me get down on my knees and thank God I’m a Filipino — SINIGANG.
Basically, it’s meat and vegetables sour soup. I have to say, it’s an everyday dish that we tend to not really think about it that much. Wait, scrap that, I don’t think Sinigang ever needs further descriptors — IT’S JUST PURE PERFECTION *kisses fingertips* lol.
I don’t think they have Sinigang in other countries. Unless of course, may OFW na nagluto :P Nonetheless, every province probably has their own version of Sinigang. Every household probably has their own version of Sinigang. But nobody does it better than Sentro.
We had dinner doon kanina after a failed attempt to Croc’s 90% off megasale :))
Okay, I know what you’re thinking, “YUUUCK, CORNED BEEF NA MAY SABAW?” Chill, people, chill. haha Lo and behold,
HINDI NAMAN KASI YUNG DELATANG CORNED BEEF ANG PINAG-UUSAPAN NATIN DITO OKAY :P So there, it looks like normal beef sinigang, only, they used short ribs and boneless shanks (hence, Corned Beef), kaya naman it’s mas malasa. Tapos, while cooking the tamarind broth palang, they ask you how sour you want it to be. So yes, it’s perfect talaga, no matter how you define Sinigang!
Wala lang. I miss food blogging. Yea, I know I’m so bad at it kaya let me post nalang the rest of this evening’s food snapshots :P
Okay, so how do I put it? Corned Beef Sinigang transports you to neverneverland, while the Fried Kesong Puti is the pixie dust that will eventually take you there :P Wala lang, ngayon ko lang kasi natikman to and I was extremely surprised how good this one was. Even when nothing was left in the ceramic palayok, to tell that the Sinigang was even in there — everybody else bowed over the ingenuity of this appetizer. I knew it when the look in my brother’s eyes told me he’d have the last 5 pieces if he could. And he did.
It’s actually the Banana and Camote Un-cue AKA THE OVERPRICED BANANA + CAMOTE CUE. Sa totoo lang, wala naman talagang anything special. Well, the bananas were considerably soft, pero overripe yung flavor :P And in daddy’s uttered words, “yung presyo nito, pampuhunan na ng magtitinda ng banana cue.”
Ayun, Advanced Happy Independence Day? haha
